HEADS UP!

Defunct Spy Satellite Falling From Orbit
By EILEEN SULLIVAN – 2 days ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — A large U.S. spy satellite has lost power and propulsion and could hit the Earth in late February or March, government officials said Saturday.
The satellite, which no longer can be controlled, could contain hazardous materials, and it is unknown where on the planet it might come down, they said. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the information is classified as secret.
"Appropriate government agencies are monitoring the situation," said Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council. "Numerous satellites over the years have come out of orbit and fallen harmlessly. We are looking at potential options to mitigate any possible damage this satellite may cause."
He would not comment on whether it is possible for the satellite to be perhaps shot down by a missile. He said it would be inappropriate to discuss any specifics at this time.

energy drinks

Are there enough waters and energy soda's on the market? SOoo many diverse 'energy drinks' to choose from. They would be smart to sponsor more bike teams. (haha) We love energy drinks! I"m not a big soda drinker, but I'll toss back a Gatorade or Power Ade on a hot day during a long ride. My fave drink is Ultra Fuel from GNC and I nearly had a panic when they stopped making it. Fortunately its back. I just wish they'd make one that was just 'pure- no dyes'.

THe big dogs in this industry tell us they hope sales will be toppin' 39 billion dollars by 2010.

Fun sight . http://bevnet.com/
The names of the energy drinks are pretty diverse. But ....wow...they have alcoholic energy drinks!

ALCOHOLIC ENERGY DRINKS?? Alcohol makes me sleepy. I dont think I''d get energy from this one to do much of anything ....

I don't want to say the name of this one.

non alcoholic: "Howling Monkey' . One of the hidden ingredients is said to be Quinine.

That is nice if you are going to be racing a stage race where there could be a threat of malaria.

Maybe someone can make a Tamiflu soda?? To avoid the rising bird flu epidemic. There you go. maybe call it 'flueless' .

This one is nice. The 'spiritual water' called Balance. Which has a nice plan of raising your spirits while you drink the water with uplifting words on the bottle. Nothing wrong with that! It would be useful in case of a Vampire Attack, too!
I think FEMA should get cases of this one to hand out in the next crisis.

How about this! REAL NEW YORK WATER

Real New York Water was rated "most desirable" in a blind taste test conducted by Time Out New York Magazine. Enjoy!

This one interests me a bit. It claims to be an all-natural recipe which can actually restore the lost nutrients to the body due to alcohol consumption. It contains no preservatives, no caffeine, no taurine, no high fructose corn syrup, and no sodium. HEY....MAYBE WATER DOES THE SAME THING? (ha) But I wonder what the main ingredient is. Maybe its good for after a workout. hmmm. just curious.

Check out some skate skiing races on YOU TUBE. Some of the races are good to watch while you PUMP an interval out on the trainer with the headphones on.

Smart Squirrels

I am trying to find a way to relate this to cycling. Squirrels vs Snakes.

Squirrels Eat Skin to Swindle Snakes
By Dave Mosher, LiveScience Staff Writer

Rattlesnakes often chow down on unwary squirrels, but new research shows the rodents fight back by eating, rubbing and even bathing themselves with pieces of discarded snake skin.
The reptilian musk helps California ground and rock squirrels mask their natural scent and thereby avoid detection from their slithering nemeses.
"It's a nice example of the opportunism of animals," said psychologist Donald Owings at the University of California Davis. "They're turning the tables on the snake."

Owings co-authored the study with Barbara Clucas, a graduate student in animal behavior, and others in a recent issue of the journal Animal Behavior.
Clucas saw squirrels picking up pieces of shed snakeskin, chewing it and then licking their fur — a trick that can fool snakes, which have poor eyesight but an advanced sense of smell.
The resourceful squirrels also bathe in soil that snakes have rested in.

Owings said the newfound tricks are just a few in the squirrel's snake-fighting arsenal; the rodents can also heat up their tails to warn rattlesnakes, as well as gauge threat level based on a snake rattle's sound. These behaviors are learned, Owings said, but if they fail, squirrels have also evolved biological resistance to snake venom, other studies have found.
